More than a Film School
-
Each semester, students work in teams to produce original creative projects. Our curriculum includes instruction in:
Filmmaking: producing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and sound design
Performing Arts: acting, vocals, movement, and stage presence
Music: producing, performing, composing, recording and audio production
Students also gain access to professional opportunities through ShineWorks Studios, where they can contribute to real-world productions and deepen their creative experience.

ShineWorks Film School operates as a Homeschool Enrichment Program under Education ReEnvisioned BOCES*, a statewide public charter authorizer. Established in 2013 as Colorado Digital BOCES, it expanded its services in 2018.
*About ERBOCES:
Education ReEnvisioned Board of Cooperative Education Services (or ErBOCES) is a statewide organization which exists to expand school choice and provide flexible, high-quality learning options for families to Colorado families. They oversee programs like online schools, in-person campuses, and homeschool enrichment—making sure each one meets state standards and supports student success. To qualify:
Students must be legally homeschooled under Colorado law*
Students may not be enrolled in any other publicly funded school or enrichment program, including full-time public schools, online schools, or other state-funded homeschool programs.
How does funding work, and what does it cover?
Thanks to ShineWorks’ partnership with Education ReEnvisioned BOCES, eligible homeschool families can enroll in one ShineWorks program—Film, Performing Arts, or Music—for an entire school year at no cost, aside from a $125 non-refundable registration fee. This is made possible through Colorado public education funding, which supports homeschool enrichment programs across the state. Families choose one specific program and attend on one assigned day per week for the full academic year. All instruction, equipment, and studio resources are covered by this funding.
-
Students who wish to participate in multiple ShineWorks programs (e.g., filmmaking and music) may do so by enrolling in one program through public funding and paying tuition for any additional day(s). This allows families to customize their student’s experience while maintaining compliance with state funding guidelines.
Please reach out via our Contact page for more information and next steps. -
If your student is currently funded through another state-authorized program, ShineWorks Film School offers a self-pay tuition option. This allows families to participate privately while maintaining their existing enrollment status.
Please reach out via our Contact page for more information and next steps. -
We currently offer in-person classes in the Denver metro area. Each program meets one day per week, designed to complement your homeschool schedule.
